So I’ve been sitting on this domain for most of four months, and finally got around to actually setting up a blog here.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Shawn K. Quinn, you may have come here from my other blog where I wrote about more random topics, most of them centered around current events, particularly strange news, technology-related and sports stories. This blog has a much narrower focus. I’ll be writing about the fine art of economizing, or as some of you may call it, penny-pinching.

Some of you may be asking “how the heck did you come up with this odd name for a blog?” Well, it comes from a period not too long ago. I used to drink a lot more soda. To cut costs I shifted from spending around US$1.50 for two-liter bottles of soda (which is maybe a two- to three-day supply for me, less if others drink some as well) to around US$4.00 for a box of 48 tea bags (easily three weeks’ worth, and that’s if I brew two pots in a day every day) plus US$2.00 for a 4-pound bag of sugar (not really sure how long these last, guessing at least two weeks). I also shifted from frozen dinners to less expensive items, one of them being–surprise–ramen noodles. The going price now is US$0.15 per package (or seven for just over a dollar).

I’m still not quite done setting things up here; I’ll finish setup over the next week or two but will continue to post regularly in the interim.
